NEW MASONS(its not really about History) is it

As I sit here anxious for August 11th to get here "The day I become an EA "   I wonder how our founding Fathers felt the day they became part of the greatest fraternity in the world!   I have read a great deal of hstory regarding Freemasonry in the last couple of months (more on history than I ever did in High School)
and coming from a person who DOES NOT READ, I MEAN AT ALL!!!!! I have become obsessed with learning all I can, reading all I can about Freemasonry past and current.  I want to know where my brothers have been and the things they've done and most importantly    Where they are going.   When I turned 18 and moved out of my mother's house,  my father had already been dead almost 2 years and I knew a part of me had died with him.  I had been struggling the last 16 years to get some piece of that back but even going to church,  getting married, and having children of my own  something was still missing.   Then one day I was talking to some friends about things we had in common and it was as if a light came on inside me.  I have felt this feeling before.
I remembered felling this way the day I joined DeMolay and had become friends with teens that wanted the same things I wanted.   That's when it hit me and I knew I wanted to be a part of the fraternity.   Then when I started reading  about it and talking to Robert Davis on the phone the feeling got stronger and stronger.     And now knowing my life is about to change dramatically, I can barely stand the excitement.   I will be around other men who feel the same way I do.  I SO look forward to learning all I can about the Fraternity.  To learn about life and mostly to finally learn who I am as a person, a husband, and a dad.  I am determined to get all I  can out of being a Freemason. I am determined to be the man my wife and kids are proud of. I can honestly say God has led me on some interesting journeys in my life but I feel deep in my heart this will be the greatest of all!

Looking forward to having you all as my Brothers

Kindest Regards

Kenton:

Thank you for your post. There is nothing that can equal the enthusiasm of youth! The key to success is always to focus such energy into the right kinds of things.

I can recall similar feelings and anxiety when I was 21 years old and had just petitioned the lodge in my hometown. My father and his brother were both very active Masons in my town. It was extraordinary to contemplate that I was getting ready to participate in something that was very important in my father's life. I was anxious not knowing if I could meet his expectations; but it was also a warm fuzzy knowing that I was getting ready to do something that had so much meaning to him.

I can't help but point to the motto you have chosen with your signature. We are each building our own temple to God. We do it one stone at a time. The active word here is that we are in the process of building....and the construction is our own life, no less.

Nothing can be more important or relevant; which explains a lot about why Masonry is still around after 1000 years of evolving.

Maybe it really is about history. Smiley
